13.1

On May 18, 2013, I accomplished a major goal of mine. Back in October I had a friend ask me if I wanted to run the Ogden Canyon Marathon with her. Since I had never run more than three miles in my life, I thought she was crazy. But, she got me thinking. I decided right then and there that I was going to run a half marathon. Why not, right? At the time, I was just a stay at home mom. No school. No work. Just baby. I had no idea what kind of dedication it would take to train. Soon after that I started school again, and started a new job. Training became incredibly difficult, especially since the only time I was able to go run was at night, and I was exhausted by the time night rolled around. I stuck to it though. Training was physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausting.

By May 18 the most that I had run was 9 miles. It just kinda happened that way. Nervous? Oh you bet ya! But I did it! My momma and I did it! And who better to do it with than my momma? That night of sleep before the race was probably some of the worst I have ever had. My mom and I were both so nervous that we would sleep through our alarm, lol. We woke up at 4:00 am and headed out to the buses, which would take us up the canyon where the race started. Guys. It was pouring rain. Pouring! Not just sprinkling, but pouring. The. whole. race. We were soaked to the bone! We totally ran the majority of the race. Now that, I was proud of. And when we crossed the finish line? You better believe we balled our eyes out. And the next few days, we couldn't even walk. It was so worth it though!

I learned something about myself. Something huge. I can do hard things. I can accomplish goals. I can do anything I set my mind to. And just like that, I became a half marathon runner.

Summer Lovin'

I am totally in love with summer time. That is one of the many reasons that I love living in St. George, it's warm all year round. Well, warmer. Now that it's hitting the hundreds, we are looking for ways to cool off. Creighton and I ventured out to wal mart this week and bought a little pool to sit on our back patio. Best ten bucks I ever did spend. We also went to the splash pad tonight. It was so great! Creighton loved playing with the other kids who were there! He found a styrofoam cup that kept him busy for a good 45 mins. Can it just stay like this forever? Please

Mr. C. Turned One!

I know I'm a few months late, but being a mom, working, and going to school doesn't present much time for blogging.

For Creighton's big number one, we went up to Saratoga Springs to spend it with our families. The day started with a doughnut for him, chicken nuggets for lunch, pizza for dinner, and yummy red velvet cupcakes. All some of his favorites. Family and some close friends came over that night to celebrate. I seriously could not get over the fact that my baby is one. Yes. There were tears. Totally justified though!

After everyone left, I spent hours that night making the perfect cake for his photo shoot the next day. The worst part? He ate so much junk food the day of his birthday, he ended up being sick and didn't even want to touch the cake for the photo shoot. Poor boy!

I know, way too many pictures. I just can't help it!

Happenings.

We have been just a bunch of sickies around here. Creighton is finally getting over it though. Between me getting into this working thing, school, and this sick, teething madness, blogging has been kinda low on the list.

Creighton has been a whole bunch of funniness these past two days. I honestly think we were starving our child. No joke. Between teething and being sick, he really didn't want to eat much. Now that he is pretty much over that, he has been an ornery beast. Last night after work, while waiting for Drew to take a test, I fed Creighton an applesauce pack, two fruit snack packs, a full cup of milk, and he was still obviously hungry. I decided to stop by Wendy's because it was already 7:30 at this point and our night was not even close to over. Creighton proceeded to eat four chicken nuggets and a whole bunch of fries. Guys, he was so unbelievable happy. He has continued to eat like that all day today, and has been happier than he has been in weeks! Oops.....

Umm dudes, Creighton loves babies. No. Joke. He was all up on this baby at work today. Cuddling her, rocking her car seat, putting toys in her mouth, petting her head. Where does he learn these things? Seriously. The cutest thing I have ever seen. Almost makes me want another baby. Almost.

I'm kinda a baby...

So it's true. I'm a total cry baby. Movies, books, tv commercials, blogs, music. You name it. You would think I'm always pregnant. I really can't help it though. I have come to accept it though.

Today while subbing in primary, a member of the primary presidency was teaching about how we are all children of God. She was having each of the children name ways our Heavenly Father shows his love for us. I couldn't help but tear up at all of their answers. It really is the small things that matter. Plus it was so sweet seeing these six year olds tell us how they know they are loved. I am so grateful for my Father in heaven, and that it is through my everyday life that he shows me He loves me. And that. That brings tears to my eyes.

Eleven months

At eleven months old, this little calls both parents dad, walks all over the place, says hi and doggy, gives high fives, loves baths, would live outside if he could, loves destroying buildings of blocks, claps, and is still unbelievably happy. I am one lucky momma!

A white Christmas after all

The weekend before Christmas, our little family of three packed up the car and headed to Richfield to visit some friends. Our weekend was filled with lots and lots and lots of yummy food, great friends, and Creighton crawling up the stairs over and over again. We had planned on driving back Christmas Eve, but that quickly changed due to a massive snow storm. Since all of our gifts were still at home, we quickly headed to wal-mart to find some sort of gift for baby c. It's his first Christmas! He had to open something that morning! The little car has become his favorite toy.

For New Years, Creighton and I surprised my family with a short visit. It was so great to see them!
